Mosaics
A well defined high resolution paper design to the exact size of the required finished item is placed facing upwards into a mould with a layer of Fablon placed with the adhesive side exposed.
Precut squares of glass are then pressed onto the design taking care that each piece adheres firmly and that the work is kept clean and tidy. When all pieces are in place and the design complete, about a third of the prepared filler is poured on top.
A layer of reinforced wire mesh is carefully inlaid and then the balance of the filler mix added.
The work is then left undisturbed to dry and set before being separated from the mould.
Plaques are made using the same technique, unless they are intended for wallhanging, where reinforced wire loops are integrated with the mesh.
They can however be used as table tops, stepping stones or simple display, as required.
