By GEORGE!
By George! is a multi-artist craft shop in St. Albans, Hertfordshire and is one of the Graceful Glass retail outlets where many of the products that you see on this website, and indeed the stained glass artist Jennifer Yardeni, can be visited.
The following is a description of the BY GEORGE Craft Centre:Midway down one of St Albans most historic streets, George Street, stands a little known gem of a shop, offering craftsmanship, quality, specialisation, personal service and a treasure trove of ever changing, unique & individual handcrafted items. The “By George” Craft Centre, 23 George Street, St Albans has a rare & unusual formation as a craft co-operative. The centre was established in 1985 to give local artists & crafts people the opportunity of selling their work on a regular basis, without the worry of having to rent & staff premises as an individual. An alternative to a craft fair, a place where creations could be displayed & purchased without having to be packed up at the end of the day.“By George” is a very special place, with an extensive range of wonderful gifts that won’t be found in every other shop on the high street. The perfect place to buy all your Birthday & Christmas presents under one roof. Our Gallery includes: Handcrafted Jewellery, Loose Beads & Jewellery Findings, Pewter Boxes & Photo Frames, Turned Wood, Moulded, Hand Painted & Stained Glass, Silverware, Candles & Accessories, Kites & Wooden Toys, Photography, Marine & Sporting Pictures, Children’s Personalised Room Accessories, Paintings, Silver Goods, Handmade Greetings Cards, Scarves & Much More. Please come & visit us at: 23 George Street, St Albans, AL3 4ES, The Centre is open Monday – Friday 9.30am to 5pm, Saturday 9.30am to 5.30pm & Sunday 1pm – 5pm.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The By George shop has a "Blog" (http://bygeorgecrafts.blogspot.com/) which includes the following description :

There's a window in 'By George', about halfway down the right hand side, which, when the light hits it, erupts into a rainbow of colours. (The photo does not do it justice). This is the 'By George' home of Graceful Glass - otherwise known as Jennifer Yardeni.
Within 'By George' Jennifer's main speciality is animals, with peeping cats (look closely in the bottom corners of the window), and small dogs such as spaniels and terriers to name but a few. Additionally there are angels, both hanging and standing and beautiful art deco style lamps, and she is always happy to take on commissions.
If you ever find yourself passing 23 George St, St Albans, it's worth popping in just to have a look, but if you want to meet the artist then Jennifer can be found in 'By George' on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. With over 20 years experience behind her, gained in both Israel, South Africa (where her Tiffany style lamps and numerous bespoke window designs have graced many a home in Johannesburg), there isn't much Jennifer doesn't know about the Lead and Copper Foil methods of stained glass she works in. (Thanks to both Ursula and Julie for their contributions)
